Basic beanie by kettuknits

 

Size: adult (56-58 cm)

Yarn: 100 g DK-weight merino wool (e.g. Kettu Yarns Big Sock) and 25 g lace-weight silk mohair (e.g. Kettu Yarns Silk Mohair or Isager Silk Mohair)
Yarn used in the sample: Kettu Yarns Big Sock in color Pointe, Isager Silk Mohair in color 62.

The beanie is knitted with two strands of yarn at the same time. If you choose a thinner/thicker yarn, adjust the number of stitches accordingly.

Needles: 3.5 mm 40 cm circular needles.

Other notions: a stitch marker, tapestry needle or crochet hook, tape measure, scissors.

Gauge: 25 s and 24 rows measured in unstretched 1 x 1 rib

Construction: The beanie is seamless, knit in one piece in the round from the bottom up.

Instructions:

Cast on 100 sts (adjust the amount to your gauge and desired size). Join in the round.

Work in 1 x 1 rib (knit 1, purl 1) until desired length (in sample hat - 30 cm).

Shape the crown:

Row 1: knit 2 sts together till end of row.
Row 2: knit all sts.
Row 3: knit 2 sts together till end of row.

 

Cut yarn and pull through remaining sts, pull tightly, secure the yarn. Weave in the ends.
Wash and block. Enjoy!
