Basic Pipo by kettuknits

Basic beanie by kettuknits

Size: adult (56-58 cm)

Yarn: 100 g DK-weight merino wool (e.g. Kettu Yarns Big Sock) and 25 g lace-weight silk mohair (e.g. Kettu Yarns Silk Mohair or Isager Silk Mohair)
Yarn used in the sample: Kettu Yarns Big Sock in color Pointe, Isager Silk Mohair in color 62.

The beanie is knitted with two strands of yarn at the same time. If you choose a thinner/thicker yarn, adjust the number of stitches accordingly.

Needles: 3.5 mm 40 cm circular needles.

Other notions: a stitch marker, tapestry needle or crochet hook, tape measure, scissors.

Gauge: 25 s and 24 rows measured in unstretched 1 x 1 rib

Construction: The beanie is seamless, knit in one piece in the round from the bottom up.

Cast on 100 sts (adjust the amount to your gauge and desired size). Join in the round.

Work in 1 x 1 rib (knit 1, purl 1) until desired length (in sample hat - 30 cm).

Shape the crown:

Row 1: knit 2 sts together till end of row.
Row 2: knit all sts.
Row 3: knit 2 sts together till end of row.

Cut yarn and pull through remaining sts, pull tightly, secure the yarn. Weave in the ends.
Wash and block. Enjoy!
